2010 #tbt on the set of #rope my first ever #film and first #featurefilm. One day in September I was out in Chelsea and it was about to rain. The sun was setting and the sky was an old mix of oranges and pinks. I thought, something is going to happen today. I went home and logged onto mandy.com and did a search for audition. I usually type in “female” “any ethnicity” “any age range” “paid/lo/nopay” but that day I put in my stats exactly and chose “fully paid”. The system kicked back the audition for this film. I submitted and they called me that night. I went in the next day and they had me do a monologue, which was odd. Then I asked the writer, “is this the same script as the one I found online?” He slowly looked up at me and said, “yes” DO YOUR RESEARCH, PEOPLE. After some time I ended up getting the role. It was an interesting experience and I’ll probably never see the footage but it taught me that I love jobs where I wake up, go to set all day, come home, read the script, pass out, and do it all over again. There’s no time for anything else—I had to temporarily leave my day job at the time to film for two weeks. Also, you’ll see I’m holding my glasses. I couldn’t wear contacts at the time due to some eye troubles so I would hand my glasses to a crew member and shoot without really being able to see. An amazing leaning experience, overall. Cheers.
